Horst Egon Kalinowski

Horst Egon Kalinowski (born January 2, 1924 in Düsseldorf ; † September 13, 2013 in Düsseldorf) was a German painter , graphic artist and sculptor .

Live and act

Horst Egon Kalinowski attended the Realgymnasium in Düsseldorf from 1934 to 1942. From 1945 to 1948 he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and then went to Venice and Rome to study. From 1950 to 1952 he studied in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in the “Atelier d'art abstrait” of Jean Dewasne . He exhibited his abstract paintings for the first time in 1953 at the Galerie Arnaud in Paris. 1958 followed in the Daniel Cordier gallery collages , material pictures and picture shrines, which, however, met with incomprehension.

From 1968 he taught at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe , where he was appointed professor in 1972 . In 1989 he retired .

Horst Egon Kalinowski was a member of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin (West) from 1965 to 1992 . In 1983 he worked as a guest of honor at the Deutsche Akademie Rome Villa Massimo . He was a member of the German Association of Artists .

Horst Egon Kalinowski lived in Düsseldorf and Paris. The estate foundation Professor Horst Egon Kalinowski founded by him is a legally dependent foundation that is managed in trust by the Art Fund Foundation . According to the artist's will, graduates of the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe should also be supported through annual awards.
