IC 3261 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 854 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 230,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 4330 , NGC 4352 , NGC 4371 , IC 3239 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
