IC 3271 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 319 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VVC 712 , but it is too far away for that.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4318 , NGC 4334 , NGC 4353 , NGC 4370 .
The object was discovered by Arnold Schwassmann on November 20, 1899 .
