IC 416 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Rabbit in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 136 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered on February 18, 1893 by the astronomer Stéphane Javelle .
