IC 413 = IC 2124 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Orion in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 190 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 50,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1819 , IC 409 , IC 412 , IC 414 .
The property was discovered by Edward Barnard in 1888 .
