Supplementary unit

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A supplementary troop unit is a non-active unit of the Bundeswehr reserve made up almost exclusively of reservists . It is activated if necessary. The reservists belong to the reinforcement reserve .

Number and posts

In the Army , 18 supplementary troop units were set up as companies in active units and 9 as battalions in the ARMY2011 structure . Others exist with the Air Force and the Armed Forces Base . The Navy has no supplementary troops.

6500 posts (since the 3rd quarter of 2014) are designated for the establishment of twelve supplementary troop units (type 1 with active parts or type 2 without active parts), which are intended to increase the stamina of the active force with selected skills. A further 600 posts are provided for the formation of five supplementary troop units at company level, which are connected to ZMZ bases.

Supplementary units of the army, air force and armed forces base

The supplementary troops were set up with selected security skills. This includes in particular the areas of NBC defense and pioneering, but armored grenadier and army reconnaissance capabilities are also shown in these units.

These supplementary troop units are each assigned to an active unit in a Coleur relationship and are led by the respective superior large unit , usually by the brigade superior to the active unit . The task of the supplementary troops is to reinforce the respective active unit in the entire range of tasks after previous alarms. A partial or closed deployment as an independent unit alongside the Couleur Association is not intended. This eliminates the need to equip the supplementary troop units with large equipment , since the equipment of the troop unit in use is used. The formation of color relationships has the following advantages: Firstly, there is a close connection between active and supplementary troop units in terms of training and internal processes. The reservists are trained on the large equipment of the active troops. Second, technical changes and the introduction of new equipment for the reservists are implemented immediately and the security of action when using the equipment used in an emergency is increased.

ZMZ supplementary troops

ZMZ supplementary troops increase the military capabilities of the active units stationed there as part of the assistance provided by the Bundeswehr in the event of natural disasters and particularly serious accidents at selected locations in Germany. For this purpose, 600 posts from the reinforcement reserve are planned in three pioneer companies and two NBC defense companies. These units are planned and equipped in such a way that, in addition to their mandate, they display special skills within the assigned associations, which are of particular importance when providing assistance. The three pioneer companies are each equipped with an active platoon (26 active posts) and six Dachs pioneer tanks for recovery and clearing. In the event of an alarm, these pioneer companies grow up with up to 100 reservists each. The pioneer companies are set up at the ZMZ bases in Havelberg , Marienberg and Viereck . The two NBC defense companies (without active units) are set up with 150 reservists each at the locations Höxter (Coleur troop unit ABC defense battalion 7 ) and Bruchsal (Coleur troop unit NBC defense battalion 750 ).
