Jakubowice ( German Jakobsdorf , also Jacobsdorf ) is a place of Gmina Byczyna in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

Geographical location

Jakubowice is located in the northwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. The village of Jakubowice is located about nine kilometers southwest of the Byczyna municipality , about 18 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kluczbork and about 57 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

The village is first mentioned in 1405 as Jocabsdorff . The name of the village is derived from the name of the founder, the village of Jacob .

In 1583 the evangelical scrap wood church was built.

In 1826 the Grundmannshain colony belonging to Jakobsdorf was founded. In 1842 the village was acquired by Colmar von Eisenschmidt. In 1845 there was a Protestant church, a Protestant school, a castle, a distillery, a brewery and another 27 houses in the village. In the same year, 361 people lived in Jakobsdorf, 33 of them Catholic. Grundmannsheim consisted of three houses and twelve residents in the same year. In 1860 the landowner Colmar von Eisenschmidt died. The village was inherited by the niece Helene von Tieschowitz. In 1861 there were 349 people in Jakobsdorf. In 1866 the castle was built by the building inspector Mr. Gerstmann from Breslau. In 1874 the District was Jakobsdorf founded, was incorporated to the Jakobsdorf. The first head of office was the manor owner Max von Tieschowitz.

In 1933 there were 323 people in Jakobsdorf. In 1937 the village school received a new building. In 1939 304 people lived in the village. Until 1945 the village belonged to the Kreuzburg OS district

As a result of the Second World War, Jakobsdorf fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . Subsequently, the place was renamed Jakubowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).

Attractions

  • The scrap wood church Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Poland (Polish Kościół Najświętszej Marii Panny Królowej Polski ) was built in 1583. It served as a Protestant church until 1945. In 1931 and in the 1990s the church was renovated. The church building is a single-nave wooden building. This has a choir closed on three sides and a rectangular bell tower with a tent roof. The main altar was made in the 18th century. The church building has been a listed building since 1953.
