James J. Nejdl

James Joseph Nejdl (born November 24, 1874 in what is now the Czech Republic , †  July 3, 1938 in Cook County , Illinois ) was an American politician . In 1924 and 1925 he was acting lieutenant governor of the state of Indiana .

Career

Not much is known in the sources about the career of James Nejdl. He came from what is now the Czech Republic and came to the United States at an unknown date. There he joined the Republican Party and was elected to the Indiana Senate. In 1924 he was President Pro Tempore chairman of that body.

After the resignation of Acting Governor Warren T. McCray , who was charged with fraud, on April 30, 1924 , his lieutenant governor Emmett Branch fell to the office of governor of Indiana as his deputy. He had to end the beginning of his predecessor's term of office by January 12, 1925. According to the state constitution, the President Pro Tempore of the State Senate, James Nejdl, took over the acting vice-governor function, which he held between April 30, 1924 and January 12, 1925. Subsequently, Nejdl no longer appeared politically. He died in Illinois on July 3, 1938.
