F. Harold Van Orman

F. Harold Van Orman (born September 26, 1884 in Flint , Michigan , †  January 6, 1958 in Evansville , Indiana ) was an American politician and hotelier. Between 1925 and 1929 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Indiana.

Career

Harold Van Orman was the son of a hotelier. He attended Evansville High School and then until 1904 the Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire . He then studied until 1908 at Harvard University . He then worked in his father's hotel company. He lived in Evansville. In 1926 he became president of his father's company, which included several hotels. He was also a member of several associations and organizations in his home country. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party . Between 1920 and 1924 he served in the Indiana Senate .

In 1924 Van Orman was elected Lieutenant Governor of Indiana alongside Edward L. Jackson . He held this office between January 12, 1925 and January 14, 1929. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. In 1932 and 1936 he was a delegate or substitute delegate to the Republican National Conventions . He died on January 6, 1958 in Evansville, where he was also buried. Since September 26, 1913 he was married to Susie Beeler, with whom he had three sons.
