Richard E. Folz

Richard E. Folz (born 1922 in Indiana ; †  March 5, 1973 in Key West , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1969 and 1973 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Indiana.

Career

Richard Folz attended Central High School and then studied at Indiana University and Georgetown University . During the Second World War he was an officer in the US Navy . Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . In 1964 he applied unsuccessfully for his party's nomination for the office of State Treasurer . Instead, he became Treasurer of the Indiana Republican State Board in 1967.

In 1968, Folz was elected Lieutenant Governor of Indiana alongside Edgar Whitcomb . He held this office between January 13, 1969 and January 8, 1973. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he moved to Key West, Florida, where he died of a heart attack on March 5, 1973, after just a few weeks.
