Jean-Pierre Nicolas
Jean-Pierre Nicolas (born January 22, 1945 in Marseille ) is a former French rally driver and team boss of the Peugeot rally team.
Career
Jean-Pierre Nicolas was a works driver for Alpine and Peugeot in the World Rally Championship in the 1970s . The Frenchman won five world championship races. In 1973 he won the Tour de Corse on an Alpine A110 and three years later the Morocco Rally on a Peugeot 504 . His greatest successes were victories at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1978 and the East African Safari Rally in the same year. He also won the Ivory Coast Rally in his most successful year in his career . In 1974 he and Gérard Larrousse won the overall ranking of the Tour de France for automobiles .
After the end of his active career, Nicolas became team manager for the Peugeot factory team. He led Marcus Grönholm to two world championship titles in 2000 and 2002 .
Today Nicolas is the manager of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
