Elizaveta Tuktamysheva ( Russian Елизавета Сергеевна Туктамышева , English transcription Elizaveta Sergeyevna TUKTAMYSHEVA * 17th December 1996 in Glasow , Udmurtia ) is a Russian figure skater , in the individual race starts. She is the European and World Champion of 2015.

Athletic career

Yelisaveta Tuktamysheva, the daughter of a former ski racer and football coach, began figure skating at the age of four and a half. Since 2007 she trained partly in her hometown Glazov and partly in Saint Petersburg . Already at the age of 12 she attracted attention because she had already mastered very demanding jump sequences. She celebrated her first successes at regional competitions in Belgorod , where her future coach Alexei Mishin became aware of her.

In 2009 she won silver for the first time at the Russian national championships, and in 2010 bronze. Since 2011 she has been training exclusively in Saint Petersburg with Svetlana Weretennikowa and Alexei Mishin. In 2011 she was second in the Junior World Championship behind her compatriot Adelina Sotnikowa . Since the 2011/12 season she took part very successfully in the ISU Grand Prix series . In mid-2012, she was sidelined due to a knee injury. In the 2012/2013 season she was Russian champion in Sochi ahead of her competitors Jelena Radionowa and Sotnikowa. At the following European Senior Championships in Zagreb she won the bronze medal behind the Italian series winner Carolina Kostner and Adelina Sotnikowa.

In the 2013/14 season, Tuktamysheva finished fourth in both Skate America and Cup of Russia . Thus, for the first time in her career, she remained without a Grand Prix medal and could not qualify for the final. At the Russian championship in 2014 she was only tenth and therefore missed the qualification for the European championship. Her trainer Alexei Mischin named health reasons as the reason for her comparatively poor performance.

She returned with strong performances in the 2014/2015 season. With a second place at Skate America and a victory at the Cup of China , she easily qualified for the Grand Prix final, which she also won. At the Russian championship she was second behind Jelena Radionova . At the European Championships in Stockholm , she won the title from her compatriots Radionwa and Anna Pogorilaja . She also confidently secured the title at the World Championships in Shanghai .

2015/16 followed another weaker season for Tuktamysheva. As eighth of the Russian championships, she did not qualify for the European and world championships and thus did not have the opportunity to defend one of her titles from the previous year.
