history

High school with boarding school around 1900

The first epoch of history begins with the Benedictine foundation in 1686 and lasted until 1802/1803. During this time the school was under church supervision. In the phase from 1803 to 1825 the grammar school was constantly endangered and in some cases was close to being closed. The school has been under state supervision since 1825. However, the high school was shaped by the Catholic Gymnasialkonvikt up until the 1960s , so the headmaster and a considerable number of the teachers were clergy until 1934.

cooperation

The Ehingen grammar school works closely with the Ambrosianum Pre-Theological Seminary and the Episcopal College St. Josef . There is also a close partnership with the Nanjing Foreign Language School in the east of the People's Republic of China. Students from Nanjing Foreign Language School currently attend regular high school classes and live at St. Josef College.
