Jupiter Island is a city in Martin County in the US state of Florida with 817 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Jupiter Island is located on the barrier island of the same name, Jupiter Island, between the Indian River and the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of Florida. The urban area stretches for 15 km from north to south and is usually less than a kilometer wide. The city is about 20 km south of Stuart and about 120 km north of Miami .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 817 inhabitants were distributed over 648 households. The population density was 117.2 inh / km². 94.4% of the population identified themselves as white , 2.2% as African American , 0.2% as Native American, and 2.6% as Asian Americans . 0.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group. 6.9% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 4.4% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 60.8% of all households. 51.0% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.74 and the average family size was 2.25.
4.6% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 16.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 20.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 58.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 64 years. 51.5% of the population were male and 48.5% were female.
2.7% of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2000, 80.62% of the population spoke English as their first language, 8.15% spoke Spanish and 11.23% spoke another language.

On November 21, 2001, the Gate House was entered on the National Register of Historic Places .

County Road 707 runs north to south through the urban area. The nearest airport is Palm Beach International Airport (around 40 km south).
crime
The crime rate in 2010 was 43 points (US average: 266 points) in the very low range. There were three break-ins and two thefts.
