Robin Schmidt from laut.de rated King of Germany with two out of a possible five points. On the album, “a lot of things seem constructed and extremely predictable”, whereby Eko Fresh “hardly any new stories” came up “apart from his origins or the years of self-glorification”. The large number of feature guests is also criticized, the majority of which are not convincing. Only the song Der Beste is praised as "one of the few innovative bright spots on the record".

Yannik Gölz from rappers.in gave König von Deutschland two out of a possible six points and describes it as “one of the most tiring albums of the year”. The songs seemed “forced, wanted, unkind, uninteresting” and had neither a “musical vision”, a concept or a “common thread”. "You hardly notice that Eko Fresh is actually a very talented rapper".
