Since January 1st, 2009, Köselitz has been part of the town of Coswig (Anhalt) in the Wittenberg district in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

The village of Köselitz in Hohen Fläming is surrounded by forests and lies between Coswig (Anhalt) and the Brandenburg town of Wiesenburg / Mark . The Rossel , a small tributary of the Elbe, rises north of Köselitz . The terrain relief reaches 153 m above sea level near Köselitz. NN .

history

The place name is of Sorbian origin and is derived from koza or kozoł ("goat", " billy goat"). The former Rundling Köselitz, originally settled by the Sorbs , appears in 1265 in a deed of ownership from the Marienkirche Coswig. The village's stone church also dates from this period.

On July 1, 2007, the formerly independent municipality of Köselitz was incorporated into the Wittenberg district due to a district reform of the former Anhalt-Zerbst district.

In 1997 the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch designed a coat of arms on behalf of the municipality. Its blazon reads: "In blue a golden St. Andrew's cross, provided with four silver lilies." The coat of arms documentation developed by Mantzsch was not included in the approval process by the legal entity, so that the place does not have a permit to use the coat of arms.

At the request of the local council of Köselitz, represented by the local mayor Ms. Cornelia Saage, the draft from 1997 was registered on September 30, 2014 in the German local coat of arms of the HEROLD association in Berlin under the number 34 / ST.
