Køng Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) in the south of the island of Sjælland in southern Denmark . Until 1970 she belonged to Harde Hammer Herred in what was then Præstø Amt , then to Vordingborg Kommune in Storstrøms Amt , which was merged into the “new” Vordingborg Municipality in the Sjælland region on January 1, 2007 as part of the local government reform .
1278 inhabitants live in the parish, 927 of them in the parish (as of January 1, 2020). The church "Køng Kirke" is located in the parish.
On October 1, 2010 the former church district Svinø Kirkedistrikt in the northwest of Køng Sogn became an independent Sogn Svinø Sogn with the abolition of the Danish church districts .
Neighboring municipalities are Svinø Sogn in the west , Sværdborg Sogn in the southeast and Lundby Sogn in the east , and Hammer Sogn in the neighboring Næstved municipality to the north .
