KNVB Cup 2018/19

The KNVB Cup 2019/20 was the 102nd edition of the Dutch soccer cup competition. Including the preliminary rounds, 106 teams took part in the 105 games of the competition; in the main competition, 59 games were played between 60 teams. The field of participants included the 34 clubs of the two professional leagues (excluding the four reserve teams playing there) and 72 amateur teams from league levels 3 to 9.

The first preliminary round took place in August 2019, the main round started in October 2019. The final was to take place on April 19, 2020 at the De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam to win the cup, who would have participated in the group stage of the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League are supposed to determine. Due to a government decision to end the 2019/20 season in the Netherlands early due to the global COVID-19 pandemic , no winner was determined.

The defending champion was Ajax Amsterdam .

First main round

In this round got the professional clubs from the Eredivisie and the Eerste Divisie ; The field of participants was completed by the winners of the second preliminary round and the four best teams of the Tweede Divisie 2018/19 (Amsterdamsche FC, Excelsior Maassluis, VV IJsselmeervogels and Koninklijke HFC ), who had already qualified. Eredivisie teams that competed in a European cup competition ( Ajax Amsterdam , PSV Eindhoven , Feyenoord Rotterdam and AZ Alkmaar ) were exempt from participating in the first main round. In games against professional teams, the amateur teams always had home rights.
