The canton of Barlin was a French canton in the arrondissement of Béthune , in the department of Pas-de-Calais and in the region of Nord-Pas-de-Calais until 2015 ; its main town was Barlin . Michel Dagbert ( PS ) was last representative in the General Council of the Département from 2002 to 2015 . The canton of Barlin was 30.01 km² in size and had 18,434 inhabitants ( as of 1999 ), which corresponded to a population density of around 614 inhabitants per km². It was on average 65 meters above sea ​​level , between 25 meters in Gosnay and 131 meters in Barlin .
