The canton of Bierné was on average 65 meters above sea level, between 19 meters in Daon and 116 meters in Longuefuye.

The canton was located in the very south-east of the Mayenne department and bordered the Maine-et-Loire department in the south and Sarthe in the east. Its neighboring cantons were Château-Gontier-Est in the west and Grez-en-Bouère in the north.
