The canton Mayenne-Est was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement of Mayenne , in Mayenne and the region Pays de la Loire ; its main town was Mayenne .
geography
The canton of Mayenne-Est was at an altitude between 62 meters in Sacé and 327 meters in Marcillé-la-Ville.
It was located in the northern half of the Mayenne department and bordered in the northwest with the canton Ambrières-les-Vallées, in the north and northeast with the canton Le Horps, in the east with the canton Bais, in the southeast with the canton Montsûrs, in the south with the canton Argentré, in the southwest to the canton of Chailland and to the west to the canton of Mayenne-Ouest.

history
The canton emerged in its current form in 1801 from the amalgamation of municipalities that until then belonged to the cantons of Grazay, Martigné (now Martigné-sur-Mayenne) and Mayenne. The canton was named Mayenne Nord-Est until 1802; since then Mayenne-Est.
