The canton Damazan was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Nerac in the Lot-et-Garonne in the region of Aquitaine .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "District of Casteljaloux". With the founding of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Nérac. From September 10, 1926 to June 1, 1942, the canton belonged to the Arrondissement of Marmande .

The canton bordered in the north on the canton Le Mas-d'Agenais and in the north-east on the canton Tonneins , both in the arrondissement Marmande , in the east on the canton Port-Sainte-Marie in the arrondissement Agen , in the south on the canton Lavardac , in the south-west to the canton of Houeillès and in the north-west to the canton of Casteljaloux .
