Ambrus is a small commune with 113 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Lot-et-Garonne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nérac and the Canton of Lavardac (until 2015: Canton Damazan ).

The municipality is located about 13 kilometers northwest of the arrondissement capital Nérac . Neighboring municipalities are Damazan in the north, Saint-Pierre-de-Buzet in the northeast, Buzet-sur-Baïse in the east, Xaintrailles in the south, Pompiey in the southwest, Fargues-sur-Ourbise in the west and Caubeyres in the northwest. Ambrus is away from the national transport links, which all run in the neighboring communities to the east. The municipality is drained by the Moureau stream , which is also called Benac further down , in a north-easterly direction to the Baïse .
