Casteljaloux is a French town with 4579 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Lot-et-Garonne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It is the capital of the canton of Les Forêts de Gascogne and lies on the banks of the Avance River .
history
At the beginning of the Second World War in 1939, numerous residents were evacuated from the Alsatian village of Kunheim to Casteljaloux.
economy
Food, wood, paper, wax and candle manufacturing are located in Casteljaloux. Tourism also plays an important role, including campsites and an 18-hole golf course. The local swimming lake covers 17 hectares, and the thermal bath in Casteljaloux specializes in the treatment of rheumatism. Agriculture in the area specializes in growing corn and wheat.
