Lapoutroie canton

Location of the canton of Lapoutroie in the arrondissement of Ribeauvillé and in the department of Haut-Rhin

The Canton Lapoutroie was 2015 a French constituency in the Haut-Rhin department . It consisted of the canton capital Lapoutroie (Eng. Schnierlach) and the communities of Fréland , Labaroche , Le Bonhomme and Orbey .

The canton was in the arrondissement of Ribeauvillé . It was disbanded on March 22, 2015.

The towns of the canton have always been a francophone language island in the middle of German-speaking Alsace. The threatened with extinction which (dt. Welsch ) or Vosgien is a Gallo-Roman subdialect of Lorrain from the group of Langues d'oïl , which u. a. is closely related to Walloon .
