Canton of Dannemarie
The canton Dannemarie was 2015 a French constituency in the Arrondissement Altkirch , in Haut-Rhin department in the region of Alsace .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the " Belfort District ". With the founding of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the Belfort arrondissement. From 1871 to 1919 it became part of the Altkirch district , for which there was no further subdivision. On June 28, 1919, the canton became part of the Altkirch arrondissement. On March 22, 2015, the canton was dissolved.
geography
The canton bordered the cantons of Masevaux and Cernay in the Thann arrondissement in the north, the Altkirch canton in the east, the Hirsingue canton in the south and the Grandvillars in the Belfort arrondissement in the Territoire-de-Belfort ( Franche-Comté ) and in the west the canton of Fontaine , also in the arrondissement of Belfort.
