Arrondissement Thann

´The Arrondissement Thann was an administrative district in the department of Haut-Rhin in the French region Alsace with 81,614 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012) on an area of ​​525 km². The seat of the sub-prefecture was Thann . On January 1, 2015, it was combined with the Arrondissement of Guebwiller to form the Arrondissement of Thann-Guebwiller .

history

On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Haut-Rhin department, the Belfort district was also founded, which at the time also included the area of ​​the later Arrondissement Thann. On February 17, 1800 the Arrondissement Belfort was founded.

On May 18, 1871, the area was re-established as the district of Thann in the Upper Rhine district in the realm of Alsace-Lorraine . At that time the district covered 524 km² and in 1885 had 60,475 inhabitants.

In the course of the reintegration of Alsace into France on June 28, 1919 (Treaty of Versailles), the Thann district was formed into the Thann district.
