About this picture

Unterreichenbach is a municipality in the Calw district in Baden-Württemberg . It belongs to the Northern Black Forest region .

geography

Geographical location

Unterreichenbach is located in the Nagold Valley between Calw and Pforzheim . The municipality extends between 292 and 633 meters in height. Until the Pforzheim-Calw railway line was built, the Nagold valley between Unterreichenbach and (Pforzheim-) Dillweißstein was impassable. The traffic had to avoid the heights to the left and right of the valley. For a long time, this geographical border was also the border between the formerly independent states of Baden and Württemberg.

Community structure

The Dennjächt settlement and the Kapfenhardt community, which was independent until 1971, to which the village of Kapfenhardt and Obere Mühle belonged , belong to the community of Unterreichenbach . The Jagdhütte district was closed as a residential area in 1971.

history

Early history

Unterreichenbach is first mentioned in a document in 1375. It used to belong to the Counts of Calw , but only came in 1603, like Liebenzell, through an exchange of territory from Baden to Württemberg , while today's district of Kapfenhardt, first mentioned in 1260, fell to the Württembergians at the beginning of the 14th century . Rafting was important in the Middle Ages.

19th and 20th centuries

Unterreichenbach came to the Oberamt Calw in 1807 when the new administrative structure in the Kingdom of Württemberg was implemented , but as early as 1810, like the surrounding communities, to the Oberamt Neuenbürg . In 1842 the communities of Dennjächt and Unterreichenbach moved back to the Calw District Office, while Kapfenhardt remained with the Neuenbürg District Office. During the district reform during the Nazi era in Württemberg in 1938, all of today's sub-towns of Unterreichenbach became part of the Calw district.

Religions

It was not until 1527 that Unterreichenbach received its own parish. The Reformation was introduced here in 1596, and the place has been evangelical since then . The Protestant parish of Unterreichenbach includes Unterreichenbach and Dennjächt. On December 1, 2013, the Protestant parish of the Kapfenhardt suburb was dissolved from the Engelsbrand parish (Enzkreis) and assigned to the Unterreichenbach parish. The political community reform was thus also reflected in the church.

The current Evangelical Church was built in the neo-Gothic style in 1892/93 by the Württemberg senior building officer Karl von Sauter and has since been rebuilt and restored several times (most recently in 2004/05). The Stuttgart glass artist Adolf Valentin Saile created three choir windows in 1968 with the themes of the birth and baptism of Jesus, Christ as ruler of the world and Pentecost .
  • The Evangelical Resurrection Church in Kapfenhardt was built in 1961. Wolf-Dieter Kohler created a five-part stained glass window for the new building with the theme of an invitation to a great meal .
  • The Unterreichenbach railway bridge was built in 1874 based on a design by Johann Wilhelm Schwedler . With a span of around 60 meters, the bridge over Nagold and Bundesstraße is one of the largest supporting structures in Baden-Württemberg based on the principle of a Schwedler girder .
