Karl Borromäus wing (born August 20, 1915 in Amberg ; † June 1, 2004 in Mallersdorf ) was a German theologian and auxiliary bishop in Regensburg .

Life

Karl wing in 1949 by Bishop Michael Buchberger in Regensburg Cathedral for priests ordained . This was followed by years of chaplaincy in Selb in Upper Franconia and in Massing in Lower Bavaria . After studying canon law in Munich , he was appointed vicar of the cathedral in 1957 , vice-official in 1961, and cathedral capitular and official in 1963 .

On September 5, 1968, Pope Paul VI appointed Karl wing as titular bishop of Altiburus and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Regensburg . On October 7, he was Bishop Rudolf Graber for consecrated bishop . Co- consecrators were the bishops Josef Stimpfle of Augsburg and Antonius Hofmann of Passau . As a motto he chose Collaborare evangelio (“Help to preach the good news”). Shortly afterwards he was appointed episcopal vicar for charitable works. In 1971, the Regensburg chose him Domkapitel the provost .

During his time as auxiliary bishop, he was particularly involved in the field of ecumenism . He is one of the co-founders of the Ecumenical Commission and the Working Group of Christian Churches in Bavaria. At the Joint Synod of the Dioceses in the Federal Republic of Germany, he acts as a spokesman on the subject of “Church Administrative Court Rules”. In the Vatican Unity Secretariat he became a member of the Commission for Religious Relations with Judaism .

In 1984 he was for health reasons emeritus . After that he mainly took care of the pilgrimage pastoral care . He regularly accompanied the Regensburg foot pilgrimage to Altötting as a “pilgrim bishop” .

The diverse commitment of Karl Flügel has been recognized with awards. He has been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class , the Bavarian Order of Merit , the Silver Citizen Medal of the City of Regensburg , the Gold Medal of the German Caritas Association and the silver plaque of the Malteser Aid Service . Over 8000 pilgrims presented him with the honorary pilgrim's staff for his work on the Regensburg foot pilgrimage. He was made an honorary citizen in March 1979 in his then home town of Wald .

In October 2003 he celebrated the 35th anniversary of the bishop in the cathedral. He died on June 1st, 2004 at the age of 88 in Mallersdorf.
