The Fort St. Vrain nuclear power plant ( English Fort St. Vrain Nuclear Generating Station ) with a high-temperature reactor was located near Platteville in the US state of Colorado .

history

The reactor at Fort St. Vrain was one of two high temperature reactors in the United States . Construction began on September 1, 1968. The reactor had an output of 342 megawatts. The reactor went into operation on December 11, 1976. After its closure in 1989, the building was demolished until 1992. The USD 174 million dismantling was completed in 1997 and a gas power plant was built on the site.
