Construction of the power station began on March 25, 1969 and is operated by American Electric Power .
Block 1
Block 1 is a Westinghouse pressurized water reactor. The reactor has a net electrical output of 1016 megawatts and a gross output of 1077 MW and was commissioned on February 10, 1975.
Block 2
Block 2 is also a Westinghouse pressurized water reactor. The reactor has a net electrical output of 1077 megawatts and a gross output of 1133 MW and was commissioned on March 22, 1978.
