King Cove (aleut .: Agdaaĝux̂ ) is a place with 807 inhabitants in the Aleutians East Borough in the state of Alaska in the United States of America . Almost all jobs in the community are in fishing or the fish processing industry. The native people of Alaska from the King Coves region, who make up almost half of the population, are Unangan from the Agdaaĝux̂ tribe.

The place is in front of the King Lagoon in King Cove a bay on the Pacific side of the Alaskan peninsula. There are no roads connecting the settlement with other places, it can only be reached by air or sea. The port of King Cove is one of the ports of the Alaska Marine Highway , according to the United States Census Bureau , the municipality covers an area of ​​77.2 km², of which 11.8 km² is water.

Demographic data

According to the 2000 census, 792 people in 170 households and 116 families lived here. The population density is 12.1 inhabitants per km². The population consists of the following groups: 15.03% White, 1.64% African American , 46.72% Native American , 26.77% Asian , 0.13% Pacific Islander, 5.93% other races, and 3.79 % are descended from two or more races. 7.45% of the population is Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 170 households, 45.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.5% of whom were married couples living together, 15.9% were single mothers, and 31.2% were non-families. 25.3% consisted of single households and 2.9% had people 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.9 and the average family size was 3.53.

21.3% of the population were under 18 years old. 11.9% between 18 and 24 years, 41% between 25 and 44 years, 22.7% between 45 and 64, and 3% were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 147.5 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over, there were 166.2 men.

The median income for a household in the county is $ 45,893, and the median income for a family is $ 47,188. Males had a median income of $ 30,714 versus $ 19,125 for females.
