Port Lions is a town of 256 people on Kodiak Island in Kodiak Island Borough in the state of Alaska in the United States of America . The place was named in honor of the Lions Club , with whose and state help the village was built to accommodate the residents of Ag'waneq after the Good Friday Earthquake , an earthquake in 1964 on the neighboring island of Afognak . The Stanford University maintains a scientific radio station in Port Lions.

A federally recognized Native American tribe , Native Village of Port Lions is based in Port Lion and over 300 registered local members are advised and organized by the Port Lions Traditional Tribal Council .

The place is in Settlers Cove near the mouth of Kizhuyak Bay , a bay on the north side of Kodiak Island. There are no roads connecting the settlement to other places; It can only be reached by air or sea.
