Seldovia is a place with 306 inhabitants in the Kenai Peninsula Borough in the state of Alaska in the United States of America . The place was created at the beginning of the 19th century by Russian fur traders, the name comes from the Russian word "Seldevoy", which refers to the rich herring deposits in the bay. The village was almost completely destroyed and then rebuilt during the Good Friday Earthquake , a major earthquake in 1964.

A tribe of Native Americans of Kachemak Bay recognized by the federal government in 1991 has its seat in the village, and the tribe is named after the location: Seldovia Village Tribe.

The place is in Kachemak Bay , a bay on the Kenai Peninsula. There are no roads connecting the settlement with other places, it can only be reached by air or sea. The port of Seldovias is one of the ports of the Alaska Marine Highway , according to the United States Census Bureau , the municipality covers an area of ​​1.5 km², of which 0.5 km² is water.

According to the census in 2000, 286 people lived here in 134 households and 71 families. The population density is 290.6 inhabitants per km². The average household size was 2.13 and the average family size was 2.93 people.

24.1% of the population were under 18 years old. 4.5% between 18 and 24 years, 21% between 25 and 44 years, 37.4% between 45 and 64, and 12.9% were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 102.8 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were 110.7 men.
