Kingsbury is in the southwest of Piscataquis County and borders Somerset County . To the southwest is Kingsbury Pond , to the north is Foss Pond and to the northeast is Whetstone Pond . The surface is slightly hilly and the highest point is the centrally located, 467 m high Foss Mountain .

history
Kingsbury was part of the Bingham Purchase from William Bingham . In 1833, Sanford Kingsbury, who was a lawyer in Gardiner, Maine at the time, bought the area and began the settlement. In 1836 there were already enough settlers in the place that it was organized as a town on March 22, 1836, named after its first owner Kingsbury. Kingsbury lost town status in 1886 and was organized as a plantation in 1887.
