Kleingeschwenda is a district of the city of Saalfeld / Saale in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

At Arnsgereuth , the constant and winding ascent from the Saale valley leading up from Saalfeld comes to an end. The federal road 281 runs on the east-sloping plateau of the Thuringian slate mountains towards Kleingeschwenda and Hoheneiche . From here it will soon go downhill again near Piesau . Around the village of Kleingeschwenda, the areas on the plateau are used for agriculture, which are then surrounded by forest.

history

The place was first mentioned on June 29, 1414. The arrangement of the houses around the village pond in the center of the village still shows the original structure as a circular structure . The church was built in 1629. In 1753, the earliest known Dutch windmill in the surrounding area was built on the old trunk road . In 1807 another storm knocked them down. After that it was not rebuilt. Until 1826 the place belonged to the office of Graefenthal of the Duchy of Saxony-Saalfeld and Saxony-Coburg-Saalfeld . Between 1826 and 1918 the place belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen , which assigned the place to the district of Saalfeld in 1868 .

Agriculture in the village was forcibly collectivized after the Second World War and after the fall of the Wall , Beulwitz found new forms of agricultural work.

From 1994 to 1996 the once independent municipality belonged to the administrative community of Saalfelder Höhe . On January 1, 1997 the conversion took place in the unit municipality Saalfelder Höhe . This was incorporated into Saalfeld on July 6, 2018.
