Konrad Louis Eduard von Brauchitsch (born November 7, 1853 in Berlin , † February 4, 1916 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Konrad was a son of the Prussian general of the infantry Eduard von Brauchitsch (1798–1869) and his second wife Auguste, née von Schenck (1819–1892). His brother Louis (1857–1930) became a Prussian lieutenant general , his two brothers from the first marriage of his father Karl (1822–1896) and Eduard (1827–1889) also became major general.

Military career

Brauchitsch attended elementary school and grammar school in Luxembourg and then the grammar school in Halle (Saale) . This was followed by a visit to the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin . Subsequently, after the beginning of the war against France on August 2, 1870 , he was transferred to the replacement battalion of the King Grenadier Regiment (2nd West Prussian) No. 7 of the Prussian Army as characterized portepeefähnrich . In the middle of the month he joined the mobile regiment, took part in the battles at Sedan , Petit Bicetre , Bellevue, Garches and Mont Valerien as well as the siege of Paris . After the preliminary peace at Versailles , Brauchitsch was promoted to second lieutenant at the beginning of March 1871 .

After the war he was assigned to the Central Gymnastics Institute from March to July 1874 and on October 1, 1874 appointed adjutant of the 2nd Battalion. On May 18, 1876 he was transferred to the 2nd Silesian Grenadier Regiment No. 11 with a patent from September 5, 1870 and rose to Prime Lieutenant at the end of July 1877 . For further training, Brauchitsch graduated from the War Academy for three years from October 1879 . When he was appointed company commander on February 11, 1886, he was transferred to the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg Jäger Battalion No. 14 in Schwerin and promoted to major in mid-June 1894 . On April 18, 1895 he was aggregated to the 1st Baden Leib Grenadier Regiment No. 109 and on July 14, 1895 appointed commander of the 4th Battalion in Karlsruhe . Brauchitsch was promoted to regimental staff in mid-August 1900 and was promoted to colonel by the end of March 1903 . As such, on April 18, 1903, he was appointed commander of the 4th Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 157 stationed in Brzeg . Brauchitsch fell ill with rheumatism and in 1905 was unlucky enough to be shot on a hunt . Therefore he was put up for disposition on April 10, 1906 with the authorization to wear his regimental uniform. On May 29, 1906, he became the commander of the Karlsruhe Landwehr district and was awarded the Crown Order of the Second Class on the occasion of the Order's festival in January 1908 . Brauchitsch was removed from his position on October 18, 1909, and was given the character of major general.

He died on February 4, 1916 in Potsdam.

Brauchitsch married Helene von Korn-Rudelsdorf (1866–1914) in Breslau on April 23, 1885. The couple had several children:
