Scott Kosmachuk (born January 24, 1994 in Richmond Hill , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the EC VSV from the ICE Hockey League since August 2020 and plays there in the position of right winger .

Career

Kosmachuk comes from Richmond Hill , a suburb of the metropolis of Toronto , and played there in the junior division between 2009 and 2010 for the Toronto Marlboros . Via the OHL Priority Selection in 2010, the Guelph Storm from the Ontario Hockey League finally acquired the rights to Kosmachuk and brought him into their squad for the 2010/11 season . In the team, which is always considered a play-off candidate, the right winger improved his point yield from year to year and won the J. Ross Robertson Cup , the OHL championship trophy, in the 2013/14 season - his last season in the junior division . In the subsequent Memorial Cup , the team failed only in the final at the Edmonton Oil Kings . In addition, Kosmachuk was elected to the Second All-Star Team of the OHL.

During his four years in Guelph Kosmachuk was selected in the third round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in 70th place by the Winnipeg Jets . They signed him in his last junior year in December 2013. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season , he was used by Winnipeg's farm team , the St. John's IceCaps , from the American Hockey League . After changing cooperation partner, he was part of the Manitoba Moose squad in the 2015/16 season . During the season, the striker also made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Jets and made eight appearances in March 2016, in which he made three assists. Nevertheless, he still failed to make a permanent leap into the NHL in the 2016/17 season and spent the entire year with the Moose. After becoming a free agent after the season , he found a new employer in the Hartford Wolf Pack from the AHL. In July 2018, Kosmachuk signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche as a free agent . These gave the attacker after one year in June 2019 including a second and a third round vote in the NHL Entry Draft 2020 to the Washington Capitals and received André Burakovsky . His contract, which expired the following month, was not extended in Washington.

On November 21, 2019, the Augsburg Panthers announced the commitment of Kosmachuk. For the Panthers he scored ten goals and 15 assists in 32 DEL games. In August 2020 he, like his teammate Sahir Gill , received a contract with the EC VSV from the ICE Hockey League .

International

Kosmachuk played for his home country at the U18 World Junior Championships 2012 in Canada . In seven tournament games he remained goalless and pointless, but won the bronze medal with the team.
