Krobotek ( Hungarian : Horvatfalu , Croatian : Hrvatski Kut ) is a place in the Jennersdorf district in southern Burgenland in Austria and one of three cadastral communities in the Weichselbaum municipality . The size of the scattered settlement is 340.56 hectares . As of January 1, 2017, the resident population was 308.

geography

Krobotek lies at an altitude of 330  m above sea level. A. and is the northeastern part of the large community of Weichselbaum. In the west, Krobotek borders on Henndorf in Burgenland , in the southwest on Rax , in the north on Königsdorf and Rosendorf, in the east on Wallendorf , in the southeast on Mogersdorf and in the south on Maria Bild .

The place is traversed by the Saubach , which rises here and flows into the Raab in the ( Hungarian ) border town Alsószölnök ( German : Unterzemming ) .

Krobotek is part of the Raab-Őrség-Goričko Nature Park .

history

Based on the Roman graves found in the neighboring Rax, it can be assumed that Krobotek was also settled at the time of the Romans. The foundation of the place is also lost in the distant past.

According to the order of the government in Budapest , the Hungarian place name Horvatfalu ( falu = village ) had to be used from 1898 due to the policy of Magyarization .

Until 1921 Krobotek belonged to German-West Hungary like the whole of Burgenland . After the end of the First World War , the municipality was awarded to Austria on the basis of the treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919. As a result, many jobs were lost in the nearby St. Gotthard , which resulted in numerous people emigrating or emigrating. This led to the impoverishment of what is now the border area.

According to an ordinance of the Burgenland provincial government of July 16, 1929, the name was changed to Krobotek .

As a result of the " annexation " to the German Reich , Burgenland was dissolved in 1938. Krobotek belonged to the Feldbach district in Gau Styria until 1945 .

The Second World War claimed numerous victims; including eight members of the volunteer fire brigade. 14 houses went up in flames.

After the end of the Second World War until the end of 1970, Krobotek was again an independent community. On January 1, 1971, in the course of the Municipal Structure Improvement Act, together with the previously autonomous municipality of Rosendorf, it was merged to form the larger municipality of Weichselbaum.

A home for musicians was built in 1985 for the Krobotek music association. In 1991 a second connection was established between Maria Bild and Krobotek. As a result, the thoroughfare was redesigned. In 1993 a children's playground was built. In 1994 the apartments in the new fire station were completed. In addition, the water cooperatives Krobotek I and II were connected to the Lower Raab Valley water association this year. In the following years, the local sewer system was started and completed. Starting in 2001, the through-road was started and completed.

Attractions

  • Local chapel - The village chapel, built in 1933, is a listed building ( entry ). It is consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus .

societies

  • Musikverein Krobotek - The association has been headed by Mario Deutsch as chairman since 2002 and is best known for its youth work. René Forjan has been Kapellmeister since September 2003. As of November 1, 2014, it included the staff leader and five Maketenders, a total of 38 musicians. Although the association was only officially founded in 1972, its roots can be traced back to before the Second World War. Eduard Gerger founded a band at that time, which mainly performed at dance events. Kapellmeister Johann Bartolovits and his deputy Josef Zack trained numerous young musicians, which is how the music association came into being. Johann Bartolovits was responsible for the musical direction of the Musikverein for more than 40 years before he retired in September 2003. The music association achieved numerous successes in concert and march music reviews as well as for the performance of Bohemian-Moravian brass music. His appearances go far beyond the municipal and district boundaries. The tradition of the music association also includes the Christmas concert in the Maria Bild pilgrimage church.
  • Voluntary fire brigade Krobetek - The weir was founded in 1890 and is therefore the oldest in the large community of Weichselbaum. At the beginning the crew number was 18 and the first commander was Franz Wailand. They bought a bucket syringe and uniforms from their own resources . In 1911 the Wehr received a hand pressure syringe . The fire station was built in 1913. This retained its function after several adaptations until 1995. It was noteworthy that the Wehr celebrated its 30th anniversary in 1926, that is, very late. The team had meanwhile grown to 32 people. During the Second World War, the fire service almost came to a standstill, as many members had to call in. In 1946 the team consisted of just nine men. After 68 years of membership, Michael Fiedler, the last founding member of the Wehr, died on March 30, 1958. In 1961 a motorized syringe was procured. In 1965, the first motorized emergency vehicle was procured for the 50th anniversary with funds from the military and the community under Mayor Johann Weber. In 1971 there were probably three fires in the village due to arson ; but this could never be proven. However, these fires led to a siren being installed at the fire station in 1974 . On July 8, 1984 a new small fire engine was put into service and in 1988 a new motorized sprayer was purchased. On June 22, 1990, the Wehr celebrated its 100th anniversary with a tent festival. In April 1992, under commandant Oswald Supper and with the help of fellow fire fighters, construction began on the new fire station, which was completed in 1995. There are also three apartments in the new fire station. Since January 1st, 2009 the defense is under the command of Josef Körbler. As of November 1, 2014, the team had a total of 20 active and three reservists.

economy

In Krobotek, the Rum-Produktions GmbH, founded in 2007, is the only company in Austria that produces Rohrum . The company, which produces 8,000 to 10,000 liters of roe rum every day, is a supplier to around 30 Austrian rum manufacturers. The raw material for the Rohrum is molasses from sugar cane imported from Pakistan .

On January 18, 2012, a short circuit in the electrical system caused a major fire in the company, which was fought by twelve fire departments with around 160 emergency services. A warehouse was destroyed and 200,000 liters of rum were destroyed. The amount of damage was around 700,000 euros. Since production was not affected, work could continue.,
