	Lac du Vieux Emosson

The Lac du Vieux Emosson is located in the canton of Valais in the municipality of Finhaut . The first dam was built in 1955 by the SBB .

In September 2014, the dam wall was raised by 20 meters. The content of the lake was doubled to 25 million m³. The greater capacity of the pumped storage power station of Nant de Drance SA be used for which the Lac du Vieux Emosson forms the upper basin and the Emosson reservoir bottom cymbal.

The reservoir can be reached via the Lac d'Emosson, which is about 300 meters below, or on foot from Vallorcine in France via the Col des Corbeaux mule track .

Footprint

On August 23, 1976, well-preserved footprints of archosaurs that lived 250 million years ago were discovered on the path to Col des Corbeaux at an altitude of 2,400 m . These tracks can be viewed in the summer after the snow melts.
