Lalonde Gordon (born November 25, 1988 in Lowlands ) is an athlete from Trinidad and Tobago who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Lalonde Gordon gained his first international experience in 2010 at the Central America and Caribbean Games in Mayagüez , where he won the bronze medal with the Trinidadian-Tobacco 4 x 400 meter relay. Over 400 meters he qualified for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi , where he was eliminated with 46.33 s in the semi-finals. In 2011 he won the CAC Championships again in Mayagüez with the relay in 3: 01.65 min, the silver medal behind the Bahamas. Gordon celebrated his first major international successes at the World Indoor Championships in 2012 in Istanbul . As a starting runner in the 4 x 400 meter relay of his country, he won the bronze medal together with Renny Quow , Jereem Richards and Jarrin Solomon . The quartet achieved a national record with a time of 3: 06.85 minutes. He also took part in the individual competition over 400 meters and was eliminated there with 47.75 s in the first round. His final breakthrough came in the same year at the Olympic Games in London . In the 400-meter run , he finished third behind Kirani James from Grenada and Luguelín Santos from the Dominican Republic with a personal best of 44.52 s . He secured another bronze medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay. Together with Solomon, Ade Alleyne-Forte and Deon Lendore , he ran in the final in a national record time of 2: 59.40 minutes behind the teams from the Bahamas and the United States in third place.

In 2013 he won the silver medal behind Antoine Adams from St. Kitts and Nevis at the CAC Championships in Morelia over 200 meters in 20.28 seconds . He also qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where he was eliminated in the semifinals with 21.14 s. In addition, he finished fifth with the relay in 3: 01.74 min. In 2014 he qualified over 400 meters for the World Indoor Championships in Sopot , where he finished fifth with 46.39 seconds. He then won the bronze medal at the World Relays in the Bahamas. In his second participation in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , he won the bronze medals in 44.78 s in the individual competition and in 3: 01.51 min with the relay. At the IAAF World Relays 2015 he finished seventh with the relay in the final. He then won the title at the NACAC Championships in San José in 44.89 s and also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he set a new national record of 2 with his country's 4 x 400 meter relay: 58.20 min won the silver medal behind the United States in the final . He also reached the semifinals over 400 meters .

In 2016 he again reached the final at the World Indoor Championships in Portland over 400 meters and this time finished sixth with 47.62 seconds, but won the bronze medal in the relay in 3: 05.51 minutes. He qualified again for participation in the Olympic Games , in which he was eliminated this time with 45.13 s in the semifinals and was disqualified with the relay in the run-up . At the IAAF World Relays 2017 he took fourth place with the relay and took part in the World Championships in London in August , where he reached the semi- finals again, but with the 4 x 400 meter relay in 2: 58.12 min won the gold medal ahead of the United States. In 2018 he finished fourth with the relay in 3: 02.52 min at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham . In April he retired from the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast in the first round over 400 meters and finished fourth in the relay in 3: 05.84 minutes.

In 2012 and 2014 Gordon was the Trinidadian-Tobagian champion in the 400-meter run and in 2013 and 2014 over the 200 meters. In 2012, he also won the title with the 4 x 400 meter relay.
