The State Social Court of Lower Saxony-Bremen is the state social court for the federal states of Lower Saxony and Bremen . It has existed since 2002 through the merger of the regional social courts of the two federal states.

It has its seat in Celle ; there is a branch in Bremen. Of the 16 arbitration bodies , 12 are in Celle and four in Bremen (as of 2015).

history

As part of the establishment of social justice in Germany, the Lower Saxony Regional Social Court was established on January 1, 1954, with its seat in Celle. In the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, the State Social Court of Bremen was created at the same time. From 1955 to 1990, the federal states of Lower Saxony, Bremen and Hesse had also agreed to concentrate legal disputes over miners' cases at a senate of the Lower Saxony State Social Court. This state treaty was however dissolved in 1990 as far as it concerns the federal state of Hesse; it persists between Lower Saxony and Bremen.

The state social courts of both federal states were merged with effect from April 1, 2002 by means of a state treaty between Bremen and Lower Saxony dated December 10, 2001. Since then, the court has been called the State Social Court of Lower Saxony-Bremen .

Peter Heine is President of the Lower Saxony-Bremen Regional Social Court . His predecessor was Monika Paulat, who held the office from the establishment in 2002 to May 31, 2009 and then from June 1, 2009 to the end of 2013 President of the Berlin-Brandenburg Regional Social Court .
