Naturally Blonde (Original title: Legally Blonde ) is an American comedy film from 2001 . Reese Witherspoon plays the lead role of a model. When her boyfriend leaves, she follows him to Harvard University , where she learns that he is already engaged.

action

The blonde and extremely fashion-oriented Elle Woods is hoping for an application from her friend Warner Huntington III., Who wants to study law at Harvard , but is dumped by him with reference to his career plans. She also applied spontaneously to Harvard and, thanks to a good test result, managed to get a place at university, although with her preparatory studies in fashion she did not fit into the profile of the renowned law faculty.

Elle is kicked out of her first seminar for lack of preparation. When she meets Warner, who is now engaged to Vivian Kensington, she decides to impress him with good performances and win him back.

When Professor Callahan's law firm seeks interns to work on an important murder trial, Elle, Warner and Vivian apply and are accepted. A millionaire has been killed and his second wife, celebrity fitness trainer Brooke Taylor Windham, is on charges of murder. Elle used to attend her classes and doesn't believe in her guilt. Her knowledge of fashion helps her to convict the real murderer - the millionaire's daughter was the perpetrator. Warner, impressed by his ex-girlfriend, wants to return to Elle, who, however, chooses the young lawyer Emmett Richmond. Elle and Vivian become friends. After graduation, Elle will deliver the graduation speech and appeal to the other graduates to believe in themselves. Vivian dumps Warner.

In the subplots, Elle helps her nail beautician to assert herself against her ex and win over the UPS messenger . In addition, she learns to use her attractiveness for others, so she helps a colleague on a date .

criticism

“A somewhat carelessly staged comedy, only subtle in a few details, which 'preaches' that women have to believe in themselves in order to be successful in life and in love. The lively play of the main actress is convincing. "
