Participation in the trade fair trophy
The Leipzig city selection took part in the trade fair city cup from the start . It was formed from players from the SC Lokomotive and the SC Rotation until the 1962/63 competition . The city was then represented by SC Leipzig and most recently by 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. In the game Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (Belgium) - Leipzig (6: 1) of the 1958/60 season, a non-Leipzig citizen played a single time with Rolf Nitzsche from progress Pegau in the city selection. At that time Pegau was playing in the fifth class district class in Leipzig. In the first three cup competitions, the Leipziger did not get beyond the 1st round, in 1961/62 and 1962/63 the selection reached the 2nd round. The selection played 17 games, seven of which were won, one ended in a draw and nine were lost. A goal difference of 29:35 was achieved. 39 players were used (23 from SC Lokomotive, 15 from SC Rotation, 1 Pegau). Six trainers were involved.
