The Leutkircher Hütte is an alpine club hut of the Leutkirch section of the German Alpine Club in the Lechtal Alps in Tyrol .

location

The Leutkircher hut lies at 2251  m above sea level. A. on the eastern edge of the extensive, rugged Almajurjoch , exactly on the municipality border between Kaisers and St. Anton am Arlberg . The closest summit is the Stanskogel with a height of 2757  m , which can be reached in about two hours via a marked and secured path.

history

On April 2, 1911, the Schwarzer Grat (Leutkirch and Isny) section of the German Alpine Club decided to build a hut on the Almajurjoch. The topping-out ceremony for the hut was on August 3, 1912; the inauguration took place on September 7, 1912. After the beginning of the First World War , the hut was closed from August 1914 to spring 1919. In 1925 the hut received electricity, which was generated by a small hydropower station near the hut. In the same year the attic was converted into a mattress store.

In 1927 a house chapel with a neo-Gothic altar was consecrated in the basement of the hut . The house chapel existed until 1979 and was then converted into a winter room. The altar was sold to the Elchenreute estate near Bad Waldsee in 1999 .

In 1945 the hut was occupied by German and later French occupation troops. On December 21, 1949, the Leutkirch section of the German Alpine Club was founded. On June 1, 1956, the huts that had been managed by the administration of the non-Austrian Alpine Club assets since the end of the Second World War returned to the property of the sections of the German Alpine Club. The Leutkircher Hütte thus belonged to the Leutkirch section.

After the construction of the Kapallbahn in the early 1960s, the number of visitors to the hut grew significantly. In 1969 an extension with new washrooms was built. In the mid-1980s, the hut was renovated again, and a sewage treatment plant was built in 1994. In 2009 the hut received an environmental seal of approval at the general assembly of the German Alpine Club .

Neighboring huts and crossings

The Kaiserjochhaus can be reached in two hours. The summit of the Stanskogel can be “taken along” on this route for two more hours. It takes 3½ hours to get to the Ulmer Hütte via the Valfagehrjoch . The crossing of the southern slope of the Weißschrofenspitze leads through terrain that is considered to be somewhat unsafe and easily prone to falling rocks. From Bacheregg you can take a parallel path below to the Kapallsattel and return to the original path. It goes to the Stuttgarter Hütte through the Stapfetobel and over the Erlijoch in four hours.
