The list of ambassadors of the United States to Armenia provides an overview of the heads of the US diplomatic mission in Armenia since 1993. The former Soviet Union republic declared itself independent on August 23, 1991; the United States recognized the new state on December 26th of that year. On February 3, 1992, the US embassy was opened in Yerevan , initially under the direction of Chargé d'Affaires Steven Mann. With Harry J. Gilmore , the first official took ambassadors in May 1993 on his service.

Remarks

  1. Evans was recalled in May 2006 after criticism of his comments regarding the genocide of Armenia . President Bush named Richard E. Hoagland to succeed him, but the Senate refused to confirm. The ambassadorial post remained vacant until August 2008. Rudolf V. Perina acted as chargé d'affaires.
