List of United States Ambassadors in Singapore
The list of US ambassadors in Singapore provides an overview of the heads of the US diplomatic mission in Singapore since 1966. Singapore gained independence in 1963, but initially merged with Malaya to form the new state of Malaysia . On August 9, 1965, the country left the country and proclaimed its own independence, whereupon diplomatic relations with the United States were established. The following year, the US opened its embassy in Singapore, with Richard H. Donald initially acting as Chargé d' affaires . The first official ambassador was Francis Joseph Galbraith in December 1966 .
