The list of US ambassadors to Azerbaijan provides an overview of the heads of the US diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan since 1992. The former Soviet Union republic declared itself independent on August 30, 1991; the United States recognized the new state on December 25th of that year. On February 19, 1992, the two countries established diplomatic relations, before the US embassy was opened in Baku on March 16 of this year , initially under the direction of Chargé d'Affaires Robert Finn . With Richard Miles , the first official took Ambassador in September 1992 on his service.
