The following list sorts countries according to their tax rate . The tax rate describes the amount of taxes paid as a percentage of gross domestic product or, in this case, gross national income . All types of taxes are included, including corporate taxes, income taxes, VAT and other taxes. All information is taken from the index for economic freedom of the American think tank Heritage Foundation and applies to 2016.
