After a denunciation he was taken into “protective custody” in 1933 and was imprisoned in Münster prison and in Börgermoor concentration camp until April 3, 1934 . After the Gestapo learned of further political activities in September 1934, he was arrested again and sentenced to eight years in prison by the Hamm Special Court on April 26, 1935 . After serving his sentence, he was released on November 23, 1942, arrested again on December 11, 1942 and deported to Neuengamme concentration camp. From there he was deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp, where he died on September 13, 1944.
